Service  Lieutenant Stafford served during the China Expedition, in 62. Medal. Present in the following operations against the Taipsing rebels: capture of stockades at Wong-ka-Dya, 4th April; of the stockaded village of Chowpoo, 17th April; and stockades near Nezeean, 29th April; present at the capture, by assault, of the walled towns of Kahoing, 1st May; Chingpoo, 12th May; Munchiao, 17th May; Isoling, 20th May; and repulse of superior force of rebels at Nezeean, 25th May 62.
