Mentioned in the Despatch of the Major-General, 23rd December 58; also by Major V. Eyre, 8th January 58. Promoted to Ensigns Commission for services in the Field, 24th February 58. Present at the capture of Lucknow by Lord Clyde, March 58. Served during the Oude Campaign,58. Commanded the Artillery in all the different engagements with the enemy. Received the thanks of Government, also of the Oude Local Government, several times, for services. Had his horse shot and wounded slightly several times. Present on the Oude Frontier at the final capture of the rebels, who found an asylum in the Nepalese Territory, and commanded the Oude Military Police during the moment of their capture.
