Service  Lieutenant-General Roberts, C.B., served under Lord Lake in the Punjab, in 05, when the Army crossed the Sutlej in pursuit of Holkar and Ameer Khan, in 06. Served in Bundlecund in 07; at the siege of Kemona and Gunowur, in the Doab, under General Dickens; in the Nepal War, 14, 15; at the storm of Kullunga. Commanded the 1st Battery, 13th Native Infantry, in action at Peacock Hill, near the Fort of Jytuk, and was afterwards engaged at Birlake Tebee. Medal. Being on Staff employ, joined and marched with his Regiment to Bareilly, where it was sent to quell the insurrection, in April 16. Served in Afghanistan, 38 to 41. Commanded the 4th Brigade of the Army of the Indus. Present at the storm and capture of Ghuznee, succeeding Sir R. Sale in the Command of the Fortress; caused the capture of Hyder Khan, the Governor of the Fortress, and son of Dost Mahomed Khan, for which he received the thanks of the Commander-in-Chief. Medal and, G.B. Afterwards commanded the Shahs Troops. Ind Class Dooranee Order. In 42 commanded the 4th Brigade of the Army of Reserve.
