Service  Assistant-Surgeon Poole served with the 1st Regiment Sikh Infantry, throughout the Rohilcund and Oude Campaigns. With the 3rd Regiment Hodsons Horse on the Raptee, in November and December 59. Joined the Force, assembling at Koorkee, under Brigadier Jones, in 58. Passed the Ganges and was present at the skirmish on the march to Nujjeerabad, in the action of Wuzeerees and re-occupation of Moradabad. Served in the Budaon District, and was present at the capture of Bareilly. Served in the Phillibeet District at the advance of Colonel Coke on Mohumdee. With a Force under General Jones towards the Ramgunga, joined the Soraon Field Force, and accompanied the Army under Lord Clyde on the advance to Amythee, in November 58. Present at the passage of the Gogra, and at Fyzabad. With a Division under Sir H. Grant was present in the various skirmishes with the rebels in 58, 59; in the action fought at Jerwah by the 1st Sikh Infantry, on 31st March 59. Services mentioned in the Despatch of 1st April 59. Medal.
