Service  Major-General Sir R. Napier was present as Brigade Major in the Sutlej Campaign and actions of 45 46. (Severely wounded. )Medal and Brevet-Major. Was Acting Chief Engineer during part of the siege of Mooltan (severely wounded); also present at Goojerat. Medal and Brevet-Lieutenant-Colonel. Accompanied Sir W. Gilberts Column in pursuit of the Sikh Army, in 49. Served as Chief of the Staff with General Outrams Force at the 1st relief of Lucknow (wounded), C.B.; as Chief Engineer at the capture of Lucknow. K.C.B. Commanded a Brigade at the capture of Gwalior, and in the subsequent pursuit defeated a large force of rebels at Powree, taking 25 guns. Commanded the Gwalior Division, and was present in numerous subsequent affairs in 58. Medal and Clasp. Commanded the 2nd Division of the China Expeditionary Force at the capture of the Taku Forts, and advance on Pekin. Medal and Clasps. Frequently mentioned in Despatches, &c.
