Was present at the siege of the Garrison of Lucknow, and served as a Subaltern of Artillery; and subsequently as Assistant Field Engineer, compiled plans for Colonel Inglis, Commanding the Garrison; and on the arrival of Sir James Outram, compiled a plan for the final relief of the Garrison by Lord Clyde. Served with the Force at Alum Bagh as Assistant Field Engineer, and compiled a plan for the final capture of Lucknow. Present at the action of Chinhut and various actions at the Alum Bagh (wounded slightly). Medal and 2 Clasps. Received the thanks of Government in G. G. O., dated 7th December 57. Served as Guide to the Forces under Command of Sir J. Outram; thanked and honorably mentioned in G. O. G. G., 5th April 58. Accompanied the Forces under Lord Clyde at the final capture of Lucknow. |
