Service  Lieutenant Macgregor served at Delhi in 57. With Sir T. Seatons Force in the Doab; under Lord Clyde, at the siege of Lucknow; with Sir Hope Grants Force in Oude; under Brigadiers Horsford and Holdich, on the Nepal Frontier. Present at the actions of Narnoul, 16th November 57; Gungeeree, Puttiallee, Mynpooree, siege and capture of Lucknow, action of Bhumori Ghat (horse and rider severely wounded), 18th September 58. Passage of the Gogra, actions of Muchligaon, Bunkussea, Kumdakot, Jereva, and Maharajpore (wounded slightly), and Chuppra. Medal and Clasp. Mentioned in the Despatch of Major Hume, 14th December 58; in that of Sir R. Napier. Brought to the notice of Government in the Despatch of Sir Hope Grant. Received the thanks of the Governor-General. Served with the Expeditionary Force in China under Sir H. Grant. Present at the action of Singho (wounded severely in two places), and capture of Pekin. Medal and Clasp. Mentioned in the speech of the Secretary at War, in moving a vote of thanks to the Forces in China.
