Present in the Mazeena and Sungokhale Valleys, under Brigadier Monteith, in May 42. Battle of Tazeen and Huftkotul, forcing of the Jugdulluck Pass, and re-occupation of Cabul, in 42. Medal. Present at the battle of Sohraon, 10th February 46. (Severely wounded.) Medal. Served with a Sikh Force against fanatics of Koghan and Huzara Tribes in 46. Present at the forcing of Doab Pass, and affair of Balakot, November 46. Raised the Corps of Guides, Cavalry and Infantry, 13th December 46. Present at the siege of Mooltan, January 49. Battle of Gojurah, 21st February 49. Medal and 2 Clasps, and Brevet-Majority. Commanded the Guides in sixteen hill fights, including the attacks on Bobozie, Pullie, Zormandie, and Sherekhanie, in 49. Lieutenant-Colonel Bradshaws attacks on Suggow, Pullie, Sherekhanie, Zormandie, and Moora, 50. Sir C. Napiers attack on the Kohat Pass, December 50. Lord Clydes aifairs of Dubb, Nowadkund, Pranghur, and Iskakot, in May 52. Brigadier Chamberlains expeditions against the Cabul Kehl Mahsood Wuzeerees, in 59, 60. Was in Political Charge of the Eusuffzaies, from December 46 to October 52, including one years Political Charge of the Peshawur and Kohat Districts. In charge of a Political Mission to Candahar, in 57. Brevet-Lieutenant-Colonel and C.B. Wounded by an assassin while in Command of the Guides, 2nd August 60.
