Served during the Mutiny, 57, 58. In Command of Linds Mooltan Horse, was engaged at Jhelum, 7th July 57 (1st charger shot under him, 2nd charger wounded, slightly contused on shoulder, and grazed on left leg). Served at Delhi with Nicholsons Column. Engaged at Nudjufghur, 25th August 57; and in the night attack of Kisengunge, 14th September 57 (charger wounded by a fragment of a shell). Served at Rohtuk, and aided in disarming and quieting the district. Present at the action of Narnoul, 16th November 57 (charger bayonetted under him). With Pennys Column, led the advance in crossing the Ganges. Engaged at Kukraoli, 30th April 58. (Slightly wounded in left knee, charger cut down under him.) Present at the action before capture of Bareilly, 5th and 6th May 58. (Struck down by coup de soleil on the latter occasion.) Served with the Shahjehanpore Column in Oude, 58, 59. Received the thanks of His Excellency the Governor-General for services at Delhi. Medal and Clasp. |
