Service  Major Langmore served with a Force under Brigadier Wheeler, in the Punjab, in 48, 49. Present at the capture of two Sikh Forts, Ramnuggur and Muraree. Medal. Formed one of the Garrison of Lucknow from the 30th of June to the 22nd of November 57. Commanded an important out-post during that period, and was honorably mentioned in Major-General Sir J. Inglis Despatch, dated 8th December 57, to the Governor-General, and published in General Order No. 1543, dated 8th December 57, from which the following is an extract:â��"And Lieutenant Langmore, with the remnant of his Corps (the 71st Native Infantry) held a very exposed position between the Hospital and Water Gate. This gallant and deserving young soldier and his men were entirely without shelter from the weather, both by night and day." Present with the Force under His Excellency the Commander-in-Chief, which drove the Gwalior rebels from Cawnpore in 57. Medal, Clasp, Brevet-Majority, and one years extra service.
