Service  Brevet-Major Lane served throughout the Sutlej Campaign, 45, 46. Present at the battles of Moodkee, Ferozeshuhur, Alliwal, and Sobraon. Medal and 3 Clasps. Served during the Punjab Campaign, 48, 49. Present at the affair of Ramnuggur, and actions of Sadoolapore, Chillianwallah, and Goojerat. Medal and 2 Clasps. Served during the Mutiny,57, 58. Present at the relief of the Garrison of Lucknow, by Lord Clyde, in November 57. Served with the Force under Sir J. Outram, at Alum Bagh, 25th November 57, to the 18th March 58. Present at several engagements while in the occupation of that post, on 22nd December 57, 16th January, and 21st and 25th February 58; and at the repulse of the enemys Cavalry, 3,000 strong, which attacked the Camp, 16th March 58. Present during the final storm and capture of Lucknow, March 58. Medal and 2 Clasps, and Brevet-Major. Mentioned in Sir James Outrams Despatch, 23rd December 57.
