Service  Major Jones served at the action of Maharajpore, Bronze Star; and with the Army of the Punjab. Present at the battles of Sadoolapore and Chillianwallah, (in which latter engagement he was twice wounded and had his horse killed under him,) and subsequent pursuit of the Sikhs and Affghans with the force under General Gilbert. Medal and Clasp. Served on the Staff of Sir Sydney Cotton, in the expedition against the Hill Tribes of Punjtar and Sittana, April 58. Commanded the first Sikh Irregular Cavalry throughout the operations in Oude, 58, 59, under Lord Clyde. Horse killed under him in action at Nurpalgunge Biswarra, November 58; wounded in action near Gonda, 13th April 59. Present at the defeat of the rebels at Bungaon, 27th April 59 ; and subsequent operations in Nepal under General Grant. Medal and Brevet-Majority.
