Service  Major James served throughout the Sutlej Campaign, including the actions of Moodkee and Ferozeshuhur, and the expedition against Kot Kangra. Medal and Clasp. Served on the Staff of Sir H. Lawrence, on the night of the 31st May, at Lucknow, when the Native Troops mutinied, and at Chinhut, on the 30th June 57. (Dangerously wounded.) Served throughout the siege of Lucknow, and received the special thanks of Government. Medal and Clasp, Brevet-Majority, and one years extra service.
