In 55 served as Captain of a Division, of H. M.s Land Transport Corps in the trenches before Sebastopol. 2 Medals and, Clasp, In 57, as 2nd in Command, 5th Punjab Infantry, he served against the rebels in the Eusuffzaie country, and led the Upper Column of attack against the rebel village of "Ramijee," for which he received the thanks of the Governor-General in Council; also throughout the Oude Campaign of 58, 59, with the Force under Sir Hope Grant. Present at the actions of Barree, Simree, Nawabgunge, and Sultanpore. Also served in the Force under Lord Clyde, and was present in all the minor engagements leading to the re-occupation of Oude, during which time he was attached to the Brigade of Brigadier Horsford, as Assistant Quarter-Master-General. Three times thanked in General Orders. Medal. |
