Service  Lieutenant Hoggan served in 57, in Command of a Detachment of the 17th Punjab Infantry, to intercept the Sealkot mutineers. Present when that Regiment disarmed the "Cities of Poor" and "Mozuffernuggur," March 68. Present at the actions near Bhagonala, 17th, Nugeena, 21st April; and Bareilly, 5th and 6th May 58. Present at the encounter at Mohunpore. (Severely wounded.) Thanked by Captain Browne in 58. Formed part of the Saugor Field Brigade under Brigadier Wheeler, 58. Medal.
