Service  Lieutenant-Colonel Hinde served in the Danubian Campaign, 54, with H. H. Omer Pasha. Served as Assistant Adjutant-General at the siege of Silistria, the crossing of the Danube, battle of Guirgeoo, and the occupation of Bucharest. Commanded an Irregular Cavalry Regiment at Ibraila, in 54, to watch the Russians. Served in the Crimean Campaign until the fall of Sebastopol. In Command of two Regiments of Infantry was present at the siege and the various Cavalry actions before Sepatoria. Served in the Mengrelian Campaign for the relief of Kars. Was present at the battle of Sregur. Served during the Mutinies, 57, 58, and 59. Commanded the combined Forces sent to open the Deccan Road in 57. Took 7 forts and 42 guns, Commanded the central Column of attack on the Punwaree Heights, at the relief of Kirwee, under Major-General Sir G. Whitlock. Commanded one of the Moveable Columns sent to hunt after Desputh and other rebel leaders in Bundle-cund. Received the thanks of the Political Authorities, 31st October 58, 21st November 59, and 9th March 60. Mentioned in the Despatch of General Whitlock to the Commander-in-Chief, 27th January 59. Received the thanks of the Governor-General, 1st March 58 and 19th January 59. Gold Medal for the Danube. Medal for Silistria. English and Turkish Medal and Clasp for the Crimea. Mutiny Medal. Received the Order of Medjidee.
