Slightly wounded in the "Bolan Pass." Dangerously wounded at the assault and capture of the Fort of Ghuznee, on the 23rd of July 39. Received five sword cuts, one cutting off the head of the right hip joint, and one freely exposing the capsule of the right shoulder joint. Made A. D. C. to the Governor-General, Lord Auckland. Medal. Volunteered his services on the breaking out of the Mutiny in 57, andat one hours notice proceeded to Allahabad in Command of a small Detachment of H. M.s 84th Regiment. Was then placed in Command of two Companies of Invalid Artillery, and was present during General Neills operations in the vicinity. Medal, and made Fort Adjutant, Allahabad. Received the substantive rank of "Major." |
