Service  Captain Hamilton served on the Staff of his Regiment throughout the Punjab Campaign, and was present at the actions of Ramnuggur, Chillianwallah, and Goojerat, in which last action his turban was shot through, and his horse killed under him; also with Sir W. R. Gilberts Force in pursuit of the Affghans to Peshawur. Medal and, 2 Clasps. Was also present in action against the rebels at Saugor, during the Mutiny, and led the advanced party of a Detachment of the 31st Native Infantry, when attacked by the Patun rebels on the 19th July 57, from whom a gun was taken. Medal.
