Service  Major Gulliver served during the Punjab Campaign, 48, 49. Present throughout the operations before, and at the siege of, Lucknow. Severely wounded in the trenches, 18th January 49. Medal and Clasp. Served with the Delhi Field Force in 57 as Field Engineer; also organised and commanded the 24th Punjab Infantry Pioneers. Present at the siege of Delhi, from July to September 57. Served in the Agra District in 57, 58- With the Force under Lord Clyde, in January and February 58. Commanded a Detachment of Bengal Sappers and Miners, and the 24th Punjab Infantry, which escorted the Siege Train from Cawnpore to Alum Bagh. Served under Lord Clyde at Lucknow, March 58. Served throughout the siege of Lucknow as Field Engineer and Commandant of the 24th Punjab Infantry Pioneers. Medal and 2 Clasps. Brought to the notice of the Commander-in-Chief in Colonel Baird Smiths Despatch, 5th November 57. Also in the Despatch of Sir R. Napier, 5th April 58. Promoted to Brevet-Majority, 28th August 58.
