Service  Lieutenant Graham served throughout the Mutinies in 57, 58, and 59. Commanded the Head Quarters of the Ramghur Irregular Cavalry, and a Company of the 1st Sikh Battalion in an attack on, and defeat of, a body of rebels at Jhurpo, 19th September 57. In the same capacity was besieged for a short time by the rebels in the Palamou District; afterwards held the District for several months with the above Force and a body of Irregulars, raised for the purpose, against vastly superior numbers. Present in Command of a Detachment with the Force under Major G. G. Macdonell, in the attack on the rebel position at the Palamow Fort, and capture of their guns and camp. Engaged with the rebels at Foungaree Pass, Chemo, Laburmoor, and Paretal. Was with the Force under Colonel Turner in pursuit of the Shahabad rebels, and at the Boogloomara Pass, in the Palamow District. Medal. Commanded the 5th Battalion, M. P., in the expedition against the Hill Tribes on the South-East Frontier, in 61. Specially mentioned by the Lieutenant-Governor in his Minute of 30th September 58; also in the Home Despatch of Governor-General, 2nd July 59. Received the "Gracious approbation of Her Majesty" for services in the Mutinies. Services brought to notice of Government by the Lieutenant-Governor of Bengal, 18th March 59. Thanked in various letters and orders, for services performed.
