Service  Colonel Fytche commanded the Detachment of the Arracan Local Battalion employed against the Walleng Hill Tribes on the Arracan Frontier, in 41, 42, and took the Walleng Hill stockade by storm. Thanked in District Orders, 11th January 42, by Lieutenant-Colonel Pogson, and Service performed brought to the favorable notice of His Excellency the Commander-in-Chief. Served with the Army of the Punjab in 48, 49. Present at the actions of Chilliamvallah and Goojerat, wounded severely, and in the subsequent pursuit of the Sikhs and Affghans by the Force under General Sir Walter Gilbert. Medal and 2 Clasps. Raised and commanded an Irregular Force, with which in conjunction with a party of Seamen and Marines under the Command of Commander Rennie, I. N., he defeated the Burmese Chiefs Ngathein and Moung-tha-bon on the 22nd and 23rd January 53, and the Burmese Governor of the Province of Bassein on the 29th of the same month, capturing nine guns, and upwards of three thousand stand of arms. Received the special thanks and warm approbation of the Governor-General, 19th March 53. Co-operated with the Force under Brigadier-General Sir John Cheape, during the month of March 53, against the Force under Myattoon, in the vicinity of Donabew. ( Wounded.} Brought to the notice of the Governor-General of India in the Despatch of Brigadier-General Sir John Cheape, and "received the special thanks and full approbation" of the Government of India, 5th May53. Pegu Medal and Clasp, and promoted to the rank of Brevet-Major. Quelled a rebellion of the Burmese in the Bassein District, Pegu, in February 54, with a small Force of Regular Troops, and a Levy of Burmese under his Command, and after three separate engagements, completely routed the insurgents and captured their leaders. Received the special thanks of Government, 18th March 54. Quelled a rebellion of the Karen Tribes in the Bassein District, with the Bassein Police Corps which he commanded, during the months of January and February 57, routing a large body of the insurgents under Meng-loung, a pseudo Prince of the Karen Tribe, and taking him prisoner. Received the special thanks, of the Governor-General, dated 14th April57.
