Served in the Columns under Brigadier Gerrard and Sir Thomas Seaton, including the actions of Gungeeree, 14th December'57; Puttiallee, 17th December '57; and Mynpooree, 27th December '57, en route to Futtyghur. Present at the storm and capture of Lucknow, under Lord Clyde, and subsequent operations in Oude, under Sir Hope Grant, wounded slightly. Medal and 2 Clasps, and Victoria Cross.
