Service  Served as Extra A. D. C. (as a Volunteer) to Major-General Thackwell, during the Punjab Campaign of 1848-49. Present at Bam-nuggur, Sadoolapore, and Chillianwallah. Medal and Clasp. Mentioned in Despatch for gallant conduct at Sadoolapore, the skirmish at Phalia and Chillianwallah. Served against the mutineers in 1857-58. Present at the action of Trimmoo Ghaut, in the Punjab, and Nudjufghur, near Delhi, July 1857: at the siege and assault of Delhi, September 1857, as D. A. C. G. to Punjab Moveable Column under General Nicholson. Accompanied Showers Column in the Jhujjur and Mewat Districts in the same capacity. Present at several skirmishes on the lower bank of the Jumna, near Calpee, in April and May 1858; at the action of Ooraya Ghaut, in May 1858; and action against the rebel Feroze Shah, in December 1858. Medal and Clasp. Mentioned in Brigadier Herbert's Despatch in G. O. G. G., 12th January 1859.
