Service  Served during the Mutinies, 1857-58-59, and with Havelock's Columns in the Alum Bagh Garrison, till relieved by Lord Clyde, in November 1857. Present at the final relief of Lucknow Garrison, and at the relief of Cawnpore, and defeat of Gwalior Contingent, at the action of Kallah Nuddee, near Khoda Gunge, 1st January 1858. Did duty with the Squadron of 18th Punjab Cavalry. Present at the action of Meran Gunge, February 1858. Served throughout the siege of Lucknow with the Division under General Outram, and at the action of Koorsee, in March 1858, under General Grant. Served throughout the Rohilcund Campaign under the command of the Commander-in-Chief. Served throughout the 2nd Oude Campaign, 1858-59, with Wetherall's Column. Present at the taking of the three Oude forts with Grant's Column, at the passage of the Gogra, at Fyzabad, and defeat of the rebels. Present with the same Column in several other minor actions. Took part in the action near Chunda. Present at the action near the banks of the Raptee, when the rebels under the Nana were defeated and driven across the river into Nepal. Accompanied the 1st Punjab Cavalry with the Column under the command of Brigadier Horsford into Nepal, and present at the action of Sitka Ghaut. Left in command of a wing, 1st Punjab Cavalry, on the banks of the Raptee, and accompanied Vaughan's Rifles on several expeditions. Medal and 2 Clasps. Served in the China Campaign. Present in the actions of Singho 12th August 1860, Chunkee Awan 18th September, and Tonghou 21st September 1861: Occupation of Pekin, 7th October 1860. Medal and 2 Clasps. Mentioned by General Grant, vide G.O. G. G., 1st March 1861.
