Inscription  To the memory of Major General Robert Nicholas Faunce commanding Pegu Division who after serving his country well and faithfully for 44 years was drowned by the foundering of the Steamer Cheduba in a cyclone in te Bay of Bengal on the 16th May 1869 in the 64th year of his age also of Caroline Lydia his beloved wife who died at sea between Malta and Gibralta on the 28th May 1869 in the 59th year of her age also of Caroline Reid their loving daughter the beloved wife of Capt F T Day late 66th Foot who died at Tillicherry on the 8th July 1869 in the 23rd year of her age This Tablet is erected by the surviiving members of the family deeply sorrowing for their irreparable loss
