Inscription  In memory of John Shortt MD MRCPL Deputy Surgeon General (retd) IMS who by energy and perseverance raised himself from the lowest ranks of the Indian Medical Service to a distinguished position as a Physician Surgeon & Scientist He was a Philanthropist ever ready to help his fellow creatures and was noted for his great zeal in acquiring & diffusing useful knowledge After his retirement he lived 13 years in Yercaud and Died aged 67 years This Tablet is erected by some of his friends who held him in high esteem
