Summary Remarks  Arrival at Bangalore on the afternoon of the 5th of March. The Engineers arrived on the 6th and were employed in reconnoitring the place in the morning and evening. On the latter excursion Lieutenant Colonel Floyd escorted them with the whole Cavalry, and discovered the rear of Tipoo's Line of March, apparently in great confusion. He unfortunately suffered himself tempted by the flattering prospect of striking an important blow and deviated from his orders. They attacked but the pursuit threw his squadrons into confusion. They were rushed by Tippoo's Cavalry and being out of reach of all support had to retire with the loss of 200 men and 300 horses. Lieutenant Colonel Floyd received a very severe wound in the face, which he has now recovered from - Accounts of the campaign against Tippoo Sultaun received by the Honourable Court of Directors from the Warren Hastings, one of the Company's Ships.
