Started on June 1 to take up the office of Commissioner of Rohilcund, but was stopped on the road by news of the Mutiny at Bareilly. He returned to Garmukhtesar and was there joined on June 4 by the refugees from Moradabad. They then broke up the bridge of boats and returned to Meerut. Williams was a trooper in the Khakee Resalla and took an active part in its many operations. He was finally Commissioner of Meerut. |
