Mutiny Service  Generally distinguished himself during the disturbances; took an active part in the pursuit of the rebel Jodhar Singh, with Captain Young and Captain Rattray; and was present at the action of Koosma. When Gaya, of which district he was Magistrate, was threatened, he saved the treasure and conveyed it safely to Calcutta. He was subsequently employed in Shahabad throughout the operations under General Lugard and Brigadier Douglas, and was frequently engaged in personal encounters with the enemy.
