Summary Remarks  Messrs Parry & Dare purchased the ship General Palmer which they employed on the home trade for the carriage of passengers and cargo. The ship had been built a few years earlier (1815) in Calcutta (Sulkea) by the shipwright James Montgomery. She was launched in 1816 under the name General Palmer, commanded by Captain M O'Brien, and was first owned by Thomas Stewart Esq.
