Summary Remarks  Letters from Gwalior have been received with information regarding Lieutenant Colonel Carmac's Detachment. The enemy was harassing the line with repeated attacks. Major Johnson pushed forward to secure a pass but the baggage train was exposed and the enemy charged it and made havoc amongst the Camp Followers cutting down everybody they met. Major Maclary observed this and advanced and repulsed them. When in the pass the enemy advanced on the rear of them with a strong party of Artillery and Infantry. Captain Bruce with the Grenadiers gave a rearguard action and tried to get possession of the guns but failed. The next day the army left early but the enemy only attacked sporadically. The army is in good spirits and awaits for the junction with Colonel Muir who has already reached Etawa.
