| Surname | Jackson | | Forename | William | | Rank | Mr | | Occupation or Status | Deputy Governor, Orphan Society | | Location | Kidderpore | | Summary Remarks | A false and scandalous paragraph appeared in the 'World' of Saturday last, reflecting upon the conduct of the relations in India of the late Lieutenant Peirce in respect to his infant daughter. Insert this letter inclosed from Mr William Jackson, the Deputy Governor of the Orphan Society, and from Mr Frederick Corfield who accompanied the Child to the School; which is all I think it necessary to trouble the Public with in refuting of so infamous a Calumny: except that it was totally unknown to any of my Friends in India that the late Lieutenant Peirce had left such a Child in India, until communicated to me as mentioned in Mr Corfield's letter. Signed Richard Peirce. The child of Lieutenant John James Peirce was, in consequence of your application to the Deputy Governor and Managers of the Orphan Society, admitted to the benefit of that Institution, and was received into the School at Kidderpore on the 9th of September last, where she still remains. Signed W Jackson. She was delivered into the hands of Mr Mackay the Master by Mr F Corfield. | | Article Type | News Article | | Issue Number | Vol. VI, No. 296 | | Issue Day | 9 | | Issue Month | October | | Issue Year | 1793 |
