Inscription  Sacred to the Memory of Richard Howe Cockerell, R.N., who departed this life on the 7th August 1839, aged 10 years and 8 months. He was beloved and respected by all who knew him, and his loss is irreparable to her, who offers this tribute to his memory. Had his life been spared, he would have returned to Europe in the early part of the year 1840.
