Inscription  Sacred to the memory of Cr. Sgt. James Dowding, 2nd Batt. 25 Regt., King's Own Borderers, who departed this life at Trincomalee, 18th April,1866, in the 30th year of his age. This tablet is erected by the Sergeants of his Battalion.
