Inscription  To the memory of James Heatherly Esq who departed this life on the night of 18th December 1859 aged 52? Years and 11 days. Also of Mrs Amelia M Courtneay aged 28 years daughter of the above. Mary daughter of T Heatherly aged 8 years and 2 months. And John son of A Heatherly aged 7 years and 8 months, grandchildren of the above who were cruelly massacred on the evening of the 10th May 1857 when the troops of this station mutinied. May the Lord have mercy on their souls. This monument is erected by grieving relatives.
