| | Surname | Simson | | | Forename(s) | John | | | Year of Death | 1820 | | | Inscription | Sacred to the Memory of John Simson, third son of George Simson, Esq., of Fifeshire, who died at Calcutta on the 19th September 1820, aged 21 years. His days were few, but rich in the promise of future excellence; his affectionate warmth of heart, his candid and generous temper; his honest ambition and rising talents formed in his life the pride and the delight of his family and his friends, and the recollection of his steadfastness in the principles of Christianity forbids that those who survive to mourn for him should sorrow as without hope or consolation. |
