Nicolson, Esq., Merchant and Indigo Planter, who departed this life in a sure and certain hope of a joyful resurrection, on the 9th May, A.D. 1819, aged 75 years, who feared God but not death, and maintained independence, but sought not riches; who thought none below him but the base and unjust; none above him but the wise and virtuous who loved his family, friends and kindred, the poor and needy, with an ardour which was the chief source of all his pleasures and pains. - (Poem) |
