Detail  [At Rhodes, of cholera, James Edward Winterbottom, esq. of East Woodhay, Hants, M.B. Fellow of the Geographical, Linnaean, and other scientific societies. Son of the late Dr Winterbottom of Reading, educated as a doctor, took degree of B.M. at Oxford in 1825 but never practised medicine. ""In 1846, 1847 and 1848 he travelled in India, and, in conjunction with Capt. Strachey, made a number of valuable observations on the natural history of the districts through which he travelled, and brought home an extensive collection of plants.""]
