Detail  [On board the ship Barham, on his voyage home from Madras, aged 73. Late commander in chief at Madras. Only son of Lieut.-Col. Richard Armstrong, of Lincoln. Ensign 1796. In 1851 he was appointed commander in chief at Madras, and was made Lieut.-Gen. in November 1851. Having resigned due to impaired health he died on the homeward voyage]
