Detail  At Umballah, Charles St John, M.D. Inspector-gen. of Hospitals in Calcutta. He entered the service as Hospital Assistant in 1811, became regimental Surgeon in 1822, Staff Surgeon 1836, an Assistant Inspector 1839, Dep. Inspector-gen. Oct. 1843, and Inspector-general July 1850. He served in the Peninsula from Sept. 1811 to the end of the war, and subsequently in the American war.
