Detail  [At the Admiralty House, Portsmouth, aged 72. Only son of Stephen Briggs, Chief Surgeon at Madras, by Magdalene, youngest dau. of James Pasley, esq. of Craig, co. Dumfries, brother to Admiral Sir T. Pasley (died 1808) and uncle to the present Rear Admiral Sir T.S. Pasley. Entered navy 1791. In Nov. 1808 he was posted to the Clorinde, 38, on the East India station, and was next employed in the China seas]
