Detail  Lancashire. At Uplands Hall, aged 73, Lieut.-Gen. Sir Thomas Whitehead, K.C.B. of the Bengal army. He was the son of the Rev. Thomas Whitehead, of Eccleston, by a daughter of William Shaw, esq. of Preston; a cadet of 1793, and attached to the 2d European reg., of which he became Colonel, May 1, 1824. He was nominated a K.C.B. in 1838, and attained the rank of Lieut.-General, Nov. 9, 1846. He married, in 1816, the daughter of James Burdett Ness, esq. of Osterley Hall, Lancashire.
