Detail  At Simla, Capt. John Bracken, 29th N. Inf. and officiating Deputy Adj.-Gen. of the Bengal army. In 1839 he married the eldest dau. of the late Egerton Smith. The professional knowledge and high character of Capt. Bracken obtained for him an appointment on the staff of the Commander-in-Chief, and he had been deputed to meet and escort the new Commander-in-Chief, Sir Wm. Gomm.
