Detail  [At Balmaghie House, Castle Douglas, aged 80. Son of the late Thomas Gordon, esq. Entered the navy 1794. Served as a midshipman on the Home and East India stations in the Tarlton and Virginie. Became acting Lieut., July 1800, on the Vulcan bomb in the East Indies. Lieut., 1803. Served in the East Indies until Feb 1807, returned to England, ordered to India again as commander of the Procris, 18, the following October. On that station until July 1809. He married, 10 Dec 1810, the dau. of Archdeacon Caulfield, and the widow of Capt. Carlton, EIC. She died in 1821, 2 sons & 2 daus.]
