Detail  In Cumberland-street, aged 66, Major-General Sir James Sutherland, K.L.S. of the Hon. East India Company's Bombay establishment. He was a cadet of the year 1796, and was appointed Colonel of the 2d Bombay Native Infantry June 5, 1829. He was gazetted to the local rank of Major General in her Majesty's armies in the East Indies June 28, 1838. Sir James Sutherland was in apparent health on the day of his death, when he had invited a party to dinner, and, whilst giving instructions to his butler with respect to wine, in his drawing-room, he suddenly grasped his wife's shoulder, who was standing near him, and expired.
