In Wyndham-place, aged 62. Born at Highbury Place, Islington, July 1787, 2nd son of George Ward of Soho Square, a Spanish and Mediterranean merchant (with a Spanish mother), purchased Northwood House near West Cowes, who died 18 Feb 1829, buried Cowes church, by Mary dau. of Henry Sampson Woodfall, esq., she died Nov 1813, buried Cowes church. Henry Baynes Ward, brother of the deceased, was a retired merchant of London, and married Miss Davis, dau. of John Davis, of Portland Place, an EIC Director, and is now resident at Cowes. In 1830 the deceased became chairman of the committee investigating the EIC preparatory to opening up the China trade. He married 26 April 1811 Emily, 5th dau. of Harvey Christian Combe, Alderman of London, 4 sons & 4 daus, including Henry, now in India in the 33rd NI, and Matthew, who was in the Bengal Cavalry, deceased] |
