Detail  [Pages 208-210. At Margate in his 77th year. Secretary to the Society of Antiquaries from 1806, for over 40 years, author. Baptised at York 8 Feb 1771. His father married 1st Elizabeth Hutchinson and 2nd Susanna Skittowe. Nicholas was born to the second marriage, while the late celebrated surgeon Sir Anthony Carlisle was born to the first. ""Entered the naval service of the East India Company; in which he attained the post of purser, and, enjoying opportunities of private trade, he amassed a considerable sum of money""]
