He had only landed from the steamer Hindostan four days previous to his death, after 18 years in the Hon. Company's service in India. He arrived just in time to see the last of his little daughter, who had been ill for some time; but the excitement caused by seeing her father, who was in a dying state, hastened her death, which took place the following day. |
