Eldest son of Henry Uhthoff, esq., ""a native of Bremen, and a Hamburgh merchant in London, and Mary-Anne his wife, dau. of Sir Joshua Vanneck, the 1st Bt., of Heveningham Hall, Suffolk"". Married Mary Farrer. His younger brother, Joshua Uhthoff, ""was Commissary in India, and on his return from the East settled in Bath, where he died in 1818, having married the sister of his brother's wife""]
