Detail  [Pages 427-428. At Middleton-house, Sussex, in his 83rd year. Entered the navy in 1774. Made Lieut. in 1782, sent to the East Indies on the Bristol, in the last general action between Adm. Hughes and Suffrein. When the Duke of Athol East Indiaman was on fire in Madras roads he volunteered his assistance, was blown up, took 16 months to recover. 6 other officers of the fleet, all the officers of the Athol, and 300 men were all killed]
